School Tours and Informational Events

We are always excited to meet perspective families and to share about our wonderful school and academic programs.
Wedgwood’s Annual Open House w/ Guided Tours

Wedgwood Elementary will annually host an Open House (in late January or early February). At this event, the Principal will give an informative presentation about the school and academic programs and there will be a Q&A session with the Principal and PTA representatives.

Guided tours are also provided at this event where prospective families can learn more about the school and ask additional questions from a PTA parent tour guide. We also work hard to have representatives for different before/after school child care providers present to be available to answer questions as well (depending on their availability).

Please see the Wedgwood “Home” and “Resources/School Calendar” pages for the most up-to-date information.

Wedgwood Self-Guided Tours

We encourage perspective families to join us for our Wedgwood Open House and guided tours in late January or early February. If you are not able to attend this event, families are more than welcome to visit Wedgwood and do a self-guided tour of the school. When you arrive, please visit our Office staff for more details. Unfortunately, due to the large volume of requests, we are not able to accommodate guided tours throughout the year.

Wedgwood’s Annual Kindergarten Events

Taste of Kindergarten
The purpose of this special event (which is typically scheduled the week before the official start of school) is to pull small groups of 10 to 12 students at a time so that teachers can facilitate structured activities. This gives teachers helpful information of how to best group our new Kindergarten students into classes. Parents are invited to stay in the cafeteria for an informational session and Q&A hosted by the Principal and PTA, fill out necessary paperwork, and to meet other Kindergarten Parents.

Kindergarten Meet and Greet
This event (which is also typically scheduled the week before the official start of school) is an opportunity for Kindergarten students and parents to meet their teacher and to see their classroom. Homeroom assignments will be sent prior to the Meet and Greet and posted on the bulletin board in the school’s front lobby.

Kindergarten Orientation
In lieu of Wedgwood’s Curriculum Night, Wedgwood’s Kindergarten staff hosts a Kindergarten Orientation (which is typically scheduled in early to mid-October). This is an opportunity for Kindergarten Parents to learn more about Wedgwood’s Kindergarten program through a whole group presentation and Q&A with the Kindergarten Teachers and the Principal, and a specific presentation by your child’s teacher about their individual classroom.

Wedgwood’s Annual Parent Informational Events

Wedgwood Curriculum Night
This is a whole-school event (which is typically scheduled in early to mid-October) focused on Wedgwood’s academic programs and initiatives for the current school year. This includes a presentation by your child’s teacher, whole-school staff introductions and presentation by the Principal, and a Q&A session with the Principal and PTA. We typically also hold our first PTA General Membership meeting of the year on this night as well.

Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences (which are typically scheduled in mid to late November) are an opportunity for parents to meet with their child’s teacher to receive specific information about their child and their progress. Teachers will review core academic performance, student study skills, social-emotional learning, and to set goals and answer questions.

Additionally, teachers will regularly send our classroom newsletters or e-mails, and are also happy to address questions or concerns about your child through email or by setting up a pre-arranged appointment before or after school.
