    Wedgwood Procedures: End-Of-Day Procedures (2:25pm)

    Communication:

Parents, please call the office if you have a change to your normal end-of-day routine. The office can then inform the classroom teachers.

    Procedures

    Student Dismissal:
As a reminder, parents must pick up their student at dismissal. You may not leave your student unsupervised after school. If you have multiple children attending Wedgwood, please plan to pick up your youngest child first.

When picking up your student, families should be prepared to check in with their student’s teacher to ensure students are going home with the right person. You may be asked to show your ID until the teacher gets to know you. Thank you in advance for your patience and flexibility.

Students not picked up at the end of school will be taken to the office. The adult picking up that student will need to park and pick them up in the office.

    Kindergarten:
Kindergarten families are to pick up their student in the parking lot behind the school. Please do not park or drive in this lot to ensure our families can retrieve their student safely.

    1st – 3rd Grade:
Parents should meet and line up at their student’s classroom number outside on the playground. Teachers will walk students out, and your student will meet you in the line. Teachers will quickly check that each student is with the correct adult.

    4th/ 5th Grade (in building)
Parents picking up their students will meet them at the front of the school.

    4th & 5th Grade (Portables)
Parents picking up their students will meet them and their teacher in front of the ramp at P5 or P6.

    Kid’s Time:
Kid’s Time students grades K – 5 will go directly into the Cafeteria – there will be a Kid’s Time supervisor there to greet and check them in.

    WeAre Afterschool Classes:
WeAre students grades k-1 will be picked up at their classrooms by a WeAre supervisor between 2:25 – 2:28 pm and walked to their WeAre program location.

WeAre students grades 2 – 5 will go directly into the Cafeteria – there will be a WeAre supervisor there to greet and check them in.

Buses (Yellow school bus and YMCA Magnuson):
1st – 5th grade bus riders (including the yellow school bus and the YMCA Magnuson bus) in the building will be delivered by a teacher to the library by 2:35. There will always be two staff members present to receive and help students. The two staff members will then walk them to the bus staging area.

1st grade bus riders will be picked up at their classrooms by a staff member between 2:25 – 2:28 pm and walked to the library

4th and 5th grade bus riders in the portables will be walked to the bus staging area by a teacher.

Kindergarten bus riders will be walked to the bus staging area by a teacher, who will work with the additional staff members to ensure students are in the correct bus line.

At the bus staging area (see photo below), the students will line up according to their bus numbers. The staff members will have check lists to help students get in the right line. When a bus arrives, a staff member will walk the correct line to the bus and check off as each student boards the bus to ensure students are accounted for and on the correct bus. This check list will then go to the office so we can immediately verify the students who boarded each bus if a problem were to occur.

    Bus staging area
If your student does not regularly ride the bus, please notify your teacher so they can ensure your child gets to the bus staging area.

Parents must provide the school with a signed note, and the student must have a green bus card (issued by the office) to ride on a bus if they do not have prearranged bus service for that bus through the District’s Transportation Department. Please contact the office if you have questions.
